ROW TO LaCONNER

Using the SEATTLE tide tables, without any correction, pick a morning with a normal low tide at around 8 AM.  Be at the Berentson Bridge at 1 ½ to 2 hours past the low.  You will have a fair current from the bridge to LaConner.  (Gig should leave the dock at 8:30 to 9:00 AM.)

You will buck the tide from Cap Sante to the refinery docks as the incoming tide floods east up the Guemes Channel, then over to Hat Island and it circles to the refinery docks and back to Cap Sante.

From the refinery docks to Berentson Bridge, the tide could be running either way.  So far, Dunlap Towing hasn’t been able to come up with a successful strategy for this stretch.

On days having high low tides approaching four feet (neap tides) the current will flood north all the way through the slough.  Therefore, picking a day with a normal low is imperative.
