You don’t need any special skills or training to start rowing with an OARS crew. Basically, you're going to just sit down on an aft-facing seat, grab an oar handle and start pulling. We’re happy to take people on free introductory rows to see what it’s all about.
OARS crews usually row for an hour at a time, departing from Cap Sante Marina and heading out into Fidalgo Bay. Our boats are kept afloat under an all-weather shed at the marina, assuring club rowers easy access to the boats year-round.
The large gigs and the wherry have four rowers, each on a single oar, with a coxswain to steer.
Marine wildlife often seen on the rows includes harbor seals, otters, ospreys and bald eagles. Crews also get up close-up views of working fishing boats, yachts of all sizes, ocean-going tugs and ships at the Port dock, as well as the busy industrial boatyards on the Guemes Channel.
It’s an invigorating hour at sea with the focus on fun and camaraderie. Crews row at their own pace. Our club is not about racing or training for competitions, though there are some opportunities for those who wish to do so. We do not have racing shells for crews to use.

Submissions
Copyright on materials contributed by OARS members is held by the individual creators. All postings, messages, text, files, images, graphics, photos, audio clips, sounds, video or other materials (the "Content") posted on, transmitted through, or linked from the Site, are the sole responsibility of the person from whom such Content originated. You are entirely responsible for all Content that you post, email or otherwise make available through the Site. For all Content provided by you, you agree to indemnify Provider as provided below.

Limitation of Liability
Under no circumstances will OARS or any officer, director, employee, contractor or agent be liable for any damages of any kind or nature whatsoever, whether direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special, consequential or otherwise that result from the use of, or the inability to use, the site or from any information provided at the Site. This limitation applies whether the alleged liability is based on contract, tort, negligence, strict liability or any other basis, and even if OARS has been advised of the possibility of such damage.

Jurisdiction
This site is controlled and operated by OARS, in Anacortes, Washington. OARS does not represent or warrant that Materials on the site are appropriate or available for use in other locations. If you choose to access this site from other locations, you do so at your own risk and are responsible for compliance with any and all local laws.
This agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, as it is applied to agreements entered into and performed within that State. Any action brought to enforce this agreement or matters related to the site shall be brought in either the State or Federal Courts of Washington.
